Last year Google launched an experimental search element designed to display results from realtime sources such as blogs, wikis, social networking sites and other news sources. Now Google has taken the experiment live with a stand alone search engine: Google Realtime.
Some of the features of this customized search engine include:
- refining your search based on time, so that you can see what was being said about a topic 10 hours or 10 days ago.
- refining your search based on location, so that you can see what was being said by town, state or country.
- using the “conversation view” to see the progression of a conversation and/or debate without navigating complex links and updates.
- Any teacher who has a current events component to their curriculum will find this to be a valuable tool. When a story breaks students could use Google Realtime to see the progression of the story and people’s reactions as time passes.
