One of the lessons I teach in my Digital Citizenship class is on the sharing of information about ourselves and when it is appropriate to do so. These skills are also important to another lesson on how to manage unwanted communications; in other words, spam. In order to spark discussion on these topics I have used the following graphic:
With the increasing number of ways that we can communicate with one another, so too do the number of ways that we risk sharing private information with sources who may not be so trustworthy. I also get a kick out seeing my students respond when they comprehend what life was like before today’s technologies were invented.
